Gene was born in the wild hills of West Virginia, raised in the mountains of western Maryland and currently lives in the West Branch Susquehanna River Valley in north central Pennsylvania.

Higher education includes Theological Studies, Electronics Engineering, Audio Engineering and Visual Arts. Gene taught at Pennsylvania College of Technology (Penn State Affiliate in Williamsport, PA).

Photography and music have always been Gene's personal obsessions. Listening to an eclectic range of music provides solace and inspiration. Photography allows him to express himself artistically. His favorite subject is natural landscapes ...but especially, unspoiled waterfalls, often found deep in the wildernerss. Gene is happiest hiking alone in the woods with a camera mounted on the tripod over his shoulder and a backpack loaded with selected lenses & other necessities.

Gene strives to produce photographic images that are simply "true" to the subject, with limited processing. If something is beautiful or interesting enough to deserve a viewer's attention, it justifies being captured just as it is ...or as close to reality as it is humanly possible to achieve.
